Implemented Projects

Major Projects

Between 2016 and 2018, as well as from 2021 to 2023, media campaigns and policy advocacy efforts were undertaken to improve the legal environment of tobacco control in Mongolia to align with the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).

The media campaigns primarily focused on raising public awareness about the risks of smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke. Additionally, they aimed to promote the establishment of 100 percent smoke-free indoor environments encompassing all types of tobacco products, including conventional cigarettes, Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS), Heated Tobacco Products (HTPs), and other novel and emerging tobacco products.

2018

Media campaign on promotion of youth employment programs and policies, June-Dec 2018 by contract with the General Office of Labour and Social Care

2016-2017

Campaign on alcohol prevention among youth, May-Aug 2016 funded by Crime Prevention Coordination Council at the Citizen's Representative Khural of the capital city.

Advocacy project “Strenghtening the tobacco control legislation in Mongolia” promoting the establishment of smoke-free policy in the country through the passage of the Mongolian Law on Tobacco Control in compliance with FCTC, April 2016-October 2017 supported by Tobacco Free Kids Campaign.

2008-2014

Mass media program as a sub-recipient of a Ministry of Health and Global Fund supported project on HIV/AIDS for the contnuation of Round Two. The main objective of the program is to increase awareness of general public including youth on prevention of HIV/AIDS and STls. Main activities focus on raising awareness of general public on prevention issues along with promotion of healthy sexual behavour. The further sensizitation of media is one of main activities of the project.

2007-2008

Human rights component of Round 5 as a sub-recipient of a Ministry of Health and Global Fund supported project on HIV/AIDS. The main objective of the project was to reduce stigma and discrminination, and increase respect of privacy in regards to HIV and AIDS. The activities were directed at improving awareness of the general population on HIV/AIDS-related human rights issues where special focus was given to the sensitization of high and mid level decision makers, media administrators and improving the attitude and understanding.

AIDS Hotline in Mongolia with support of UNFPA-Mongolia and funded by Project Accelerating Funds of UNAIDS, 2007-2008. This hotline allowed people of all ages to get the comprehensive knowledge and professional counseling services on STIs and HIV prevention, reproductive health and sexuality related issues such as family planning, abortion, sexual disfunctions etc. The impact of the project clearly showed that people need this kind of hotline to seek for information for more healthy sexual behavoir and prevention from related infections.

2003-2005

Two extensive mass media campaigns " Safer sex-Healthy and Wise Choice" with the cooperation of the international humanitarian organization AIDS Foundation East West (www.afew.org) and the Health Development Center of the Ministry of Health of Mongolia, 2003-2005. These campaigns along with the prevoius campaigns on safe sex issues, which were implemented by the MSF-Holland in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Mongolia in 1999-2001 contributed greatly to the introduction of safer sex aspects, healthy sexual behavoiur to the Mongolian Society.

Ad hoc events and campaigns

October 2006

Coordinator of the First Asia Pacific Conference “Low to Zero” among low HIV prevalence countries in the region hosted by the Mongolian Government with support of UNCT in Mongolia.

December 2005

Coordinator of the World AIDS Day Campaign “Stop AIDS. Keep the promise" in cooperation with other members of UNTG on HIV/AIDS. The activities included a press conference to launch the World AIDS Day Campaign held with the Ministry of Health, public awareness activities such as a concert among young people with involvement of pop stars, TV and radio programs etc.
